Anker 757

Anker is jumping into the solar generator market with something pretty special. It’s a 1229WH battery with all sorts of ports in a package that is pretty damned small given what it is. And, if you pre-order you save $200. Given Anker’s reputation, this seems like an enticingly good deal.

Most of the AirTag capsules on the market are made of plastic, rubber, or some form of synthetic leather. But Dango just released this capsule made of 6061 aluminum and it looks pretty promising. Price isn’t terrible either…

The Desk Lamp By Pure Forms

Aesthetically it’s fine – simple. But functionality wise? Pretty boss… The docking features are great, but I really dig the ability to control color temperature and brightness with such a high resolution.

It’s fully funded too…

Mophie Magnetic Portable Stand

I’ve found most phone stands to be pretty gimmicky mostly because I rarely have a need. That being said, there have been a few times while traveling when my 3D printed phone stand has come in handy for my wife or kids… So, I keep it in my travel bag.

Mophie just introduced a step up from my plastic crap… It’s a foldable stand that uses MagSafe… and the reviews are really positive.

Nitecore Power Banks

Was asked recently what is the best power bank for travelers. The answer is pretty simple – Nitecore makes a series of Power Banks that emphasize both weight and capacity. And while they don’t feature as many usb-c ports as I would like, they are the best I’ve been able to find.

Peak Design Mobile Mod

So it’s no secret that I love the design team at Peak Design. Recently, they released a new line of mobile products – basically, phone cases that match to very secure mounts for things like cars, motorcycles, tripods, etc…

I bought a universal mount for review and testing and was really impressed. But, I didn’t really have a use for it as I have a RAM mount standard for all of my devices. If it doesn’t mount by 1″ ball, it’s just not for me.

Still, the Peak Design mount worked so well that I figured I should at least try to adapt it. Turns out, it’s an easy job… After about 5 minutes on the CNC router, I had an adaptor that allows me to use the PD mount with my RAM system.

I can’t recommend this enough.

Leica M11

Leica released their latest M-body today – the M11. Basic selling point is the new triple resolution sensor essentially allowing you to choose between high resolution 60mp files or lower resolution files (36 or 18mp) giving better high ISO performance.

This thing is undoubtedly capable of producing gorgeous images and will probably do so with perfect ergonomics and unmatched build quality, BUT… the biggest issue I have with modern digital M-bodies is inconsistent range finder calibration. In the past, I’ve found that M8, M9, and M10 rangefinders let me down over time.

Oh… and if you get one, go for silver – it’s the only color way made in traditional brass.
