The 1016 might be my favorite Rolex of all time. Well, maybe not… But, it’s certainly the most versatile. And it used to be that they were also the most affordable of vintage Rolexes. As this example proves, this is no longer the case. I’ve always wanted one, but I waited to long and now they are out of my reach.

That said, I am trying like hell to build my own version out of scrap Rolex parts and a 1958 Oyster Perpetual.

They are only making 1,956 of them and they will be priced around $1000 (I think?)… Featuring a 6R27 movement, this isn’t a bad deal. BUT, there’s prolly no way in hell you will be able to find one with such limited numbers.
